Bjelica wants to talk to Fischer next week
Union Berlin's new coach Nenad Bjelica has not yet spoken to his predecessor Urs Fischer, but wants to do so soon. "Next week for sure," the 52-year-old replied to a question on the streaming service DAZN. If he then has a little more time, he will "take the opportunity to speak to him", added Bjelica shortly before kick-off of the Berliners' Champions League match at Sporting Braga on Wednesday evening (9.00 pm).
Union need at least a draw to at least keep their theoretical chance of staying in the Europa League in the winter. Bjelica was appointed as the Köpenickers' new coach on Sunday. He is the successor to long-serving coach Fischer (57). Last weekend, the team was coached by interim coach Marco Grote.
Bjelica mentioned that he plans to speak with Fischer during the upcoming week to discuss their shared past at 1st FC Union Berlin. During the Champions League match against Sporting Braga on Wednesday evening, Bjelica also mentioned his potential conversation with Fischer, emphasizing the importance of keeping Union Berlin's theoretical chance of staying in the Europa League alive.
