Former chemical site - Bitterfeld celebrates its 800th anniversary

The city of Bitterfeld celebrates its 800-year city jubilee from Thursday. Mayor Armin Schenk (CDU) described the four-day celebrations as the greatest cultural peak of the year. The city was first mentioned in writing on June 28, 1224. It is a center of chemical production in Saxony-Anhalt. In 2007, the originally independent cities of Bitterfeld and Wolfen fusioned.

The celebrations are taking place in the historic city of Bitterfeld, located in the region of Saxony-Anhalt. Several municipalities within Saxony-Anhalt are participating in the 800-year anniversary festivities. Mayor Schenk, a member of the CDU, highlighted the fusion of Bitterfeld and Wolfen as a significant event in the city's history.
