Due to threatening four people with a machete, a man from the Gifhorn district now faces criminal charges. As the police reported, the incident occurred last Saturday just before midnight in Wittingen. The four individuals were on their way from a birthday party to their car, which they had parked in front of the 74-year-old suspect's house.

The man came out of the house, said something incomprehensible to the four birthday guests, and held a machete. He appeared very threatening towards them, it was reported. The four signaled to the 74-year-old that they didn't want any trouble and drove away.

Police officers later located the man and took his details. The reason for his behavior was initially unclear. A criminal investigation was initiated against him for threatening behavior. The officers also seized the machete. The 74-year-old had to spend a night in police custody.

The incident took place in the small town of Wittingen, located in Lower Saxony. Despite the 74-year-old's actions, the birthday party guests managed to escape to their car, which was parked near his house.
