German League - "Bild" reports on a gathering between Tuchel and a rep from Man United.
It seems that Thomas Tuchel is still on the list of candidates for Manchester United's manager position. Bild reports that Tuchel recently met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a shareholder of the storied club, in Monaco on a Tuesday. Ratcliffe is said to have heard Tuchel's ideas about the future of the English football champions to possibly work together for the upcoming season.
The Sun mentioned that there've been two meetings between Tuchel and Ratcliffe in the past few weeks. However, on Sunday, The Sun also stated, "Thomas Tuchel has turned down Manchester United and said he wants to take a break from football." The newspaper did not provide any proof or sources regarding this statement.
Erik ten Hag, the current United coach, led his team to the eighth spot in the Premier League last season and has faced criticism as a result. But despite the criticism, he led his team to win the FA Cup against league champions and city rivals Manchester City last season, potentially increasing his chances of staying at Old Trafford.
When inquired about any guarantees from the club, ten Hag told Voetbal International two weeks ago, "Nothing's required. We're moving into the next season." This comment may not be the end of the speculation regarding the coach's situation at Manchester United.
Bild also claims that Tuchel (50) revealed potential strategies to incorporate Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, back into the team. Sancho, who joined Manchester United for 85 million euros from the BVB in 2021, fell out of favor with ten Hag but regained form at the BVB in the second half of the season.
Tuchel gained a positive reputation in England during his time at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League alongside former defender Antonio Rudiger in the 2021 final against Manchester City.
