"Bild": Former Mainz coach Schwarz reaches agreement with US club

Sandro Schwarz is apparently about to take on a new role as a soccer coach. According to a report in "Bild", the former FSV Mainz 05 and Hertha BSC coach is set to take over the US club New York Red Bulls this winter. Both parties are in agreement, according to the report. The 45-year-old Schwarz, who also worked for Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga from 2017 to 2019 and was head coach at Dynamo Moscow from 2020 to 2022, was let go by the Berlin club in April of this year.

Just a few days ago, it was announced that RB Leipzig's sister club had already secured the services of long-serving Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg (32). According to "Bild", Forsberg is also set to move to New York this winter.

The Red Bulls, managed by former Schalke manager Jochen Schneider, finished the Major League Soccer season at the end of October in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. At the beginning of this month, they were knocked out in the first play-off round against Cincinnati.

On Tuesday, Schneider announced the departure of former New York coach Troy Lesesne and his assistant Zach Prince and also said that the selection process for the next head coach was "actively underway".

Sandro Schwarz's move to the New York Red Bulls as a soccer coach is expected to be strengthened further with the arrival of Emil Forsberg, who previously played for RB Leipzig's sister club. The German club, currently managed by Jochen Schneider, is looking to improve their performance after finishing the Major League Soccer season in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and being knocked out in the first play-off round.
