Biden's security advisor claims that the Russian assault on Kharkiv, a region in Ukraine, is facing setbacks.

Biden eased restrictions on Kharkiv in late May, permitting Ukraine to utilize American-supplied weapons against Russian targets. According to Sullivan, this decision made perfect sense from the President's perspective. "It was illogical not to let the Ukrainians return fire while Russian weapons and positions attacked them," he explained.

Following Biden's move, Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) granted Ukraine permission to use German weapons against adversaries near the Russian border. Previously, Russian forces had launched an assault in the Kharkiv area in mid-May, resulting in several territorial gains.

During his trip to France for the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy and a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Biden reaffirmed his support for Ukraine. He declared a new aid package for Ukraine valued at $225 million (€208 million).

Biden cautioned at the Elysee Palace in Paris during a discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron that Russian President Vladimir Putin wouldn't stop at Ukraine. "The entirety of Europe will be in danger if we let this happen," Biden asserted. "We will not allow this to occur."
