Biden openly expresses his robust backing for Harris

After Biden wrapped up his 60-minute speech, Vice President Harris stepped up, and the two shared a prolonged hug. Earlier in the day, the President had commended his vice presidential pick as "tough" and "seasoned," and someone with "remarkable moral fortitude." He labeled his choice to partner with her as the "top decision" of his entire career.

Biden associates the Republican presidential hopeful, Trump, as a "failure." He advocated for the American electorate to select a "prosecutor" over a "convicted felon" for the White House position.

Biden was pointing to Harris' past role as California's Attorney General and Trump's prior conviction by a New York court for falsifying records in a case involving hush money, thereby making him the initial criminally-convicted former U.S. President in history.

Biden's address was met with deafening applause and extended "We adore Joe!" cheers. "I appreciate you too," he replied. Earlier in the convention, Harris had admired Biden. According to her, the Democrats will always be indebted to him.

In July, the 81-year-old Biden had expressed his intention to relinquish the presidency in the upcoming November election, citing internal party speculations regarding his mental capacity. He subsequently endorsed Harris as his successor. She subsequently secured the presidential nomination in an online vote in August's early days. Her bid has generated widespread enthusiasm within the Democratic Party. At 59, she would be the first female, African American, and individual of Asian descent to become the U.S. President.

In lighting up his support for Harris, Biden urged the public to opt for a "competent leader" rather than a "convicted liar" for the presidency. Recognizing Harris' past achievements as Attorney General, Biden considered her the optimal choice to "navigate the challenges ahead" and reaffirm the nation's faith in its leadership.
