Biden announces relinquishment of presidential candidacy

Biden has been under heavy pressure within his own party since his disastrous television debate with his challenger Donald Trump at the end of June. More than 30 members of the House of Representatives and several Senators from the Democratic ranks have recently called on Biden to withdraw due to doubts about his physical and mental fitness for a second term.

Friday saw Biden rejecting the calls for him to drop out of the presidential race and announced that he would resume his campaign rallies after his Corona infection in the coming week.

Despite the calls for withdrawal from over 30 House representatives and several Democratic senators, citing doubts about his fitness, Joe Biden rejected the notion on Friday. The US-President-elect Biden, however, announced his plans to resume campaign rallies following his Corona infection, starting on the upcoming Sunday. Meanwhile, Donald Trump, Biden's challenger in the Presidential election, remains focused on his Presidential candidacy, unaffected by Biden's health concerns and resilient in his campaign.
