- Bicyclist sustains severe injuries in collision
An incident involving a solo vehicle happened in Herdorf-Sassenroth, Altenkirchen district, resulting in a 70-year-old cyclist enduring severe injuries. He was riding his racing bike and apparently had trouble seeing due to the sun being low, which led him to accidentally hit a stationary car parked by the side of the road while en route to Grünebach. The man suffered significant head injuries, but his helmet undoubtedly lessened the impact of further damage. He was subsequently transported to a medical facility in Siegen. The aftermath of the collision, in terms of the bike and the car, is yet to be assessed. The incident transpired during Sunday evening.
The police report noted, "The following is added: the make and model of the stationary car involved in the accident." After being treated at the hospital, the cyclist's condition began to show signs of improvement.
