Münster (NRW) - The 60-year-old kept meticulous records of his theft sprees. When the police caught him, they pulled two handwritten notes about "crime scenes and loot" out of his wallet.

They caught him in the act on Tuesday on Sentruper Straße near the zoo when he tried to use a screwdriver to pry various e-bike batteries from parked two-wheelers. He hid his prey under leaves and earth in a bush. He had already buried another 16 batteries there.

The officers took action and were astonished when they found almost 67 stolen bicycles and around 80 e-bike batteries in the man's home and garden a little later! More than his notes could hold.

Even his vehicle had been stolen: The bike was reported stolen at the end of September.

The investigation is ongoing. Citizens who have had bicycles, e-bikes or e-bike batteries stolen and have already filed a complaint are asked not to actively contact the police. "The officers will contact them if their items are among the stolen goods."
