The upcoming vote - Best performance for AfD in Pforzheim: Gains in all areas
The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has made substantial gains in the recent European elections, particularly in the southwest region of Germany. Their highest official result was in the Pforzheim city district, with 23.2% of the votes, while their lowest was in the Freiburg im Breisgau city district with 5.9%.
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party fared well too, earning their best result in the Sigmaringen district with 41.7% of the votes, which is the constituency of Minister President Winfried Kretschmann (Greens). Their weakest result was also in the Freiburg im Breisgau city district with 15.4%.
The Greens, however, have experienced significant losses, as they've lost in all 44 cities and districts. They achieved their highest vote share in Freiburg im Breisgau city district (30.3%), but their lowest in the Neckar-Odenwald district (7.6%). The Social Democratic Party (SPD) managed 16.5% in the Mannheim city district, but their worst result was in the Biberach district with 7.5%. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) got their best result in the Reutlingen district with 8.9% and their weakest in the Neckar-Odenwald district with 4.4%.
The Christian Democrats have emerged as the clear winners of the European election in Baden-Württemberg. The Greens, on the other hand, have seen a steep decline in support, with only 13.8% of the votes. The AfD party is the second strongest force, securing 14.7% of the votes, despite weeks of negative press about potential ties to Russia and China. The SPD received 11.6% and the FDP garnered 6.8%. A new party, Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW), started from zero and now has 4.5% of the votes.
