Hertha President - Bernstein: Abolish video refereeing again

Hertha president Kay Bernstein is not a fan of the video referee. "Abolish it, go back to emotion," the 43-year-old told the Youtuber Feliecio 1892 in response to a question about his opinion on the VAR in a conversation published on the platform on Wednesday. The video referee was introduced to eliminate injustice. "We still have that. It's still a discretionary decision. It's still not clear: when does he intervene, when does he not intervene," said Bernstein.

The president sees another problem. "It's an emotion killer for the people in the stadium," he said. "It ruins more than it wins." The attempt was worthwhile, however, and Bernstein was open to further attempts. "If we look at the rules and say: What could we change to make this game more emotional, more truthful and, of course, fairer? I'd love anything. Let's give it a try." After a while, you can then see what works and what doesn't.
