Bernhard Pörksen receives Erich Fromm Prize
This year's Erich Fromm Prize will be awarded to the media scientist Bernhard Pörksen from Tübingen. Pörksen's work and public commitment demonstrate his proximity to humanistic psychology and the work of Erich Fromm, the International Erich Fromm Society, based in Griesheim near Darmstadt, announced on Tuesday.
The award is endowed with 10,000 euros and is to be presented to Pörksen in Stuttgart on March 23 - Fromm's 124th birthday. The award honors personalities who have made outstanding achievements with their commitment to the preservation or recovery of humanistic thought and action in the spirit of the social psychologist Erich Fromm (1900-1980), who became famous with works such as "The Art of Loving" (1956) and "To Have or to Be" (1976).
The recognition of Bernhard Pörksen's achievements has been widely covered in the media. His winning of the Erich Fromm Prize has been praised by many people in the field of media and psychology.
