Bernd Obst elected new district administrator in Fürth

Bernd Obst is the new district administrator in the district of Fürth. The CSU politician received 56.1 percent of the vote in the election on Sunday, beating four other candidates. This is according to the results published on the district administration's website. The previous incumbent Matthias Dießl (CSU) will take over as President of the Bavarian Savings Banks Association on January 1, 2024, making a new election necessary. The now 47-year-old has been District Administrator in Fürth for 15 years. The term of office for the new district administrator is six years. The voter turnout was 45.3 percent.

Minister President Markus Söder (CSU) congratulated Obst on his election victory on X, formerly Twitter: "Clearly won the first round of voting with 56% against four other candidates - respect!"
