Berlin manager Hain is the new table tennis president
The multifunctional Andreas Hain is the new president of the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB). The manager of the German women's champions TTC Berlin Eastside and head of the Hessian state association was elected as Claudia Herweg's successor at the DTTB's national conference in Frankfurt am Main on Saturday. The first woman to head the association was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring and did not stand for re-election after two years in office due to her treatment.
The 57-year-old Hain has initially only been elected for a few months. This is because the DTTB also adopted new statutes on Saturday. It provides for a full-time board and an honorary presidium as a supervisory body, but will only come into effect when it is entered in the register of associations. The new positions are expected to be allocated at an extraordinary national conference in spring 2024 in accordance with the new statutes.
Andreas Hain, the manager of the successful Table Tennis team TTC Berlin Eastside, will lead the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) in an interim capacity due to the new statutes being adopted. As part of his duties as the new DTTB president, Hain will oversee the allocation of positions in a full-time board and an honorary presidium at the expected extraordinary national conference in spring 2024, according to the new DTTB statutes.
