Berlin Foxes win confidently in Chambéry
The Füchse Berlin handball team continues to be victorious in the European League. The Bundesliga club won 36:31 (17:14) at French representative Chambéry Savoie Handball on Tuesday evening. The game was meaningless, however, as they were already certain of progressing. They go into the main group stage as unbeaten winners of Group G. Berlin's best scorers were Moritz Sauter with eight goals and Max Darj with seven.
Coach Jaron Siewert had given superstar Mathias Gidsel a break and did not even take him along. There was also a lot of rotation right from the start and the youngsters were given plenty of playing time. The Berliners were particularly good in defense, behind which keeper Dejan Milosavljev shone with several saves.
As a result, the Berliners took the lead right from the start. However, they struggled in attack at times. They made too many technical mistakes. However, as the French side also made many mistakes, the visitors remained in front and even led by six goals shortly after the break (20:14).
Berlin's defense was no longer as compact in the second half and Chambéry scored more easily again. However, the Foxes always had an answer and were also able to continue relying on Milosavljev. As a result, victory was never in danger.
The victory in Chambéry further solidifies Füchse Berlin's dominance in the EHF European League's Group G. In the future, Foxes Berlin and Chambéry Savoie Handball will likely face each other again, given their opposing team affiliations in the same league.
