Hockey played on an icy surface - Berlin Eisbären renew contracts for Tobias Eder and Lean Bergmann.
The Berlin Bears sports director, Stéphane Richer, has confirmed on Tuesday that the contracts of two German national players, Tobias Eder and Lean Bergmann, have been extended early. The team plans to maintain a core group of German national players.
Tobias Eder and Lean Bergmann, both forwards, have played an important role in the team since their debuts. Eder, aged 26, previously played for EHC Red Bull München, while Bergmann, 25, came from Adler Mannheim.
The premature extension of their contracts means they'll remain with the Berlin Bears at least until 2026. "Tobias Eder and Lean Bergmann are key contributors to the team's offence," says Richer. "Both of them have been with us from the start, they're talented and hard-working players, and we're delighted they'll be staying."
This season, Bergmann, who joined the Bears last summer, scored ten points in 29 games while Eder, who joined in the 2023/24 season, has scored 25 goals and assisted on 12 others.
Eder feels at home in Berlin and shared his reasons with the media, "We have a great team with amazing personalities. My girlfriend and I really love living in Berlin. It was a great experience winning the championship last season. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of a fantastic time to come."
