Frozen ball game on ice - Berlin Eisbären acquire Finnish attacker Fontaine

The Berlin Bears are moving forward with their team preparations for the next season. Today, the defending champions of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) announced that they have signed Canadian striker Gabriel Fontaine for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign. Fontaine, 27, will be joining the club from Finnish high-tier club Lukko Rauma. In the last two seasons, he played in 95 matches for the club, scored 40 points, and helped take his team to the Champions Hockey League (CHL) semi-finals. Berlin currently has given out seven foreign player permits.

"He's a great skater and a strong two-way player. He can play center or wing, giving our coaching team different options," Berlin's Sports Director Stéphane Richer is quoted in a press release. "Gabriel is still young and has displayed outstanding performances in Finland in the previous two years. We believe he can maintain these performances wearing a Berlin Bears jersey."
