- Berlin educators will undergo training to become adept in AI utilization.
Berlin's Education Senator, Katharina Günther-Wünsch from the CDU party, is prepping educators to tackle artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom. She declared that an extensive education program will kick off with the upcoming school year. This program aims to answer queries such as integrating AI tech in teaching and the proper reaction if teachers notice students utilizing AI. Günther-Wünsch pointed out that assessing and grading in the future is one of the major concerns.
The training will delve into the fundamentals of AI and its societal effects. Educators and other educational personnel will learn how to leverage AI to aid individual students.
Additionally, Günther-Wünsch intends to enhance internet connectivity at schools. Her intention is to connect all 800 public schools to a high-performance network by the conclusion of the legislative term in 2026.
Berlin's schools are gearing up for the new year with a substantial jump in student enrollment. Preliminary data from the education administration suggests that approximately 404,000 students will be attending regular schools post-summer break, exceeding the 400,000 mark at Berlin's public and private schools for the first time in 25 years.
Despite the Commission's delay in adopting a decision on Article 93 (2) of the Treaty, Günther-Wünsch is proceeding with her plans for AI integration in Berlin's education system. The Education Senator is preparing an extensive program to address AI's applications in teaching and appropriate responses to its use by students.
