Berlin City Council intends to grant Honorary Citizenship to Publisher Friedrich Springer

The 82-year-old individual is regarded as a "thriving Berlin businessperson who embraces challenges and fulfills societal obligations," as Wegner explained further. She's been actively engaged for numerous years "with the organizations she oversees, aimed at public benefit."

Known as Friede Springer, she's the widow of the firm's founder, Axel Springer. Beyond this, she initiated the Friede Springer Foundation, which focuses on charitable endeavors.

In accordance with the Senate Chancellery's announcement, the House of Representatives is due to deliberate on the proposal soon. The bestowal of the honorary citizenship may occur in the latter part of this year.

Friede Springer, the widow of Axel Springer's firm founder, has also been recognized as an honorary citizen by the city. This recognition is a testament to her continued charitable work through the Friede Springer Foundation.
