Berlin Boxing Association Presidency Continues with Henkel
Frank Henkel has been voted back as the President of the Berlin Boxing Association (BBV) during a General Assembly held on Friday. All 30 clubs of the organization cast their votes for the re-election of the ex-Mayor of Berlin, Berlin, for the upcoming four years, as announced by the BBV on Sunday. Henkel assumed the role of the struggling association in the spring of 2023 and, along with his team, successfully prevented bankruptcy.
"I'm astonished by what we managed to accomplish in my initial year as President," Henkel, who still occasionally boxes at Blue-White, Weißensee, stated, "We've updated our constitution and secured the Landesleistungszentrum at Paul-Heyse-Straße 29 for the next four years."
Future responsibilities include promoting digitalization for easier management of competitions via an electronic start book. More competitions are planned, along with improving the professionalism of the Berlin Championships. The association also aims to ensure decent talent development.
