Belgian royal couple concludes their visit to Germany in Dresden
Together with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender as well as Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and his wife Annett Hofmann, the royal couple first visited the microchip and semiconductor manufacturer X-FAB.
After a walk across the Augustus Bridge, which offers a view over the Old Town, they paid a visit to the famous Old Masters Picture Gallery in the Zwinger. "The view of Dresden's Old Town attracts people from all over the world," wrote the State Chancellery on the short message service X, formerly Twitter. "The fact that the Belgian royal couple also want to enjoy this unique view is a great honor for Saxony and Dresden."
Afterwards, they wanted to take a look at the Frauenkirche, which was destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt a few years ago. A visit to the historic Christmas market was planned to round off the visit to Dresden.
The royal couple's trip to Germany began on Tuesday in Berlin, where King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were received with military honors by the Federal President at Bellevue Palace. This was followed by a walk through the Brandenburg Gate, a wreath-laying ceremony at the Central Memorial of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Victims of War and Tyranny and a state banquet.
On Wednesday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited a network operator in Berlin together with the Federal President and his wife. This was followed by a meeting with managing directors from the energy industry.
