King Philippe of Belgium met Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) on the second day of his state visit to Berlin. Scholz received the 63-year-old monarch at the Federal Chancellery on Wednesday afternoon. A meeting between the state guest and the Chancellor was then on the agenda. Prior to this, Philippe had visited a youth welfare project in Berlin-Kreuzberg with Queen Mathilde and the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner (CDU).
The royal couple's three-day visit to Germany will be marked by the partnership between Belgium and Germany. According to the Office of the Federal President, this is Philippe and Mathilde's first state visit to Germany. Their stay ends on Thursday in Dresden, where they will visit the Frauenkirche and a Christmas market, among other things.
