Before Württemberg duel: Heidenheim experiences new situation
After four consecutive defeats in competitive matches, 1. FC Heidenheim have to deal with a new situation, according to coach Frank Schmidt. "I think we're now getting a taste of how the season will go," said the coach of the Bundesliga promotion contenders ahead of Sunday's home match (17:30/DAZN) against in-form VfB Stuttgart. "Not everyone enjoys it, but I do."
However, Schmidt was particularly unhappy with the first-half performance in last Tuesday's cup defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach (1:3). He is demanding a reaction from his team against Stuttgart. "We have to see how we deal with it, how we cope with it," said Schmidt on Friday about the negative series. "It's easy to just sit down here and start shouting that everything will be different. I'm only concerned with how we put our performance on the pitch. We want to get out of this situation as a first step."
Marnon Busch, who was already absent due to illness in the cup match in Gladbach, is still doubtful. Thomas Keller will be out for several months due to a cruciate ligament rupture.
