About 50 years ago, the Elbe-facing facade of Hartenfels Castle in Torgau was last renovated - now, the craftsmen are returning. The facade is to be renovated for more than two million euros, the Nordsachsen district administration announced. Of this, 1.38 million euros will come as funding from the state, and the district will contribute 778,000 euros as its own share. The building area will be completely refurbished by 2025. Among other things, the district administration has its seat in this Renaissance castle.

The renovation project includes restoring the surrounding monuments to their original glory, ensuring the Elbe-facing facade of Hartenfels Castle is complemented by well-maintained historical landmarks. Upon completion in 2025, visitors to Torgau will be able to admire the renovated monuments and the stunning Hartenfels Castle.
