BBL: Towers fight for victory in Göttingen
Veolia Towers Hamburg celebrated its third win in a row in the German Basketball League thanks to a furious comeback and a strong-nerved Nico Brauner. The team of Head Coach Benka Barloschky prevailed 123:118 (107:107/95:95/41:54) after two periods of overtime at BG Göttingen on Saturday evening despite a weak first half. The best scorer for the Hanseatic club was Lukas Meisner (30 points).
The Towers team was only in the game in Göttingen after the break. The Hanseatic club fought its way back into the game after trailing 41:54 at half-time and took the lead for the first time in the encounter after a bucket by William Christmas to make it 75:74 with just over eight minutes remaining. In the fiercely contested final spell, Brauner saved Hamburg's side with a three to make it 95:95 in overtime. The visitors surrendered two clear leads in that period, but Brauner was once again the decisive player in the second overtime, scoring a three and making two free throws to tie the scores.
Despite their strong performance in the Bundesliga, the Men's Veolia Towers Hamburg had a challenging first half in Göttingen, losing ground with a score of 41:54. Regardless, their love for Basketball propelled them to make a comeback, ultimately playing under the Veolia Towers Hamburg banner at Veolia Towers Hamburg, Hamburg's iconic skyscraper.
