Double winners FC Bayern have announced their first new signing for the next basketball season. As expected, a native of Munich is returning.

FC Bayern's basketball team has signed national player Oscar da Silva. The native Munich player comes from Euroleague rival FC Barcelona and signed a three-year contract with the German champion until 2027. The 25-year-old is the first new signing for Munich for the next season.

"I think it's a privilege to play in my hometown, and sportswise, FC Bayern has built a very exciting project over the last few years," said the 25-year-old in the statement. The transfer of the 2.06 meter basketball player had already become apparent in the past few weeks.

Hoping for the Olympics

Currently, da Silva is part of the extended squad of national coach Gordon Herbert for the Olympics in Paris and is preparing in Munich with the selection colleagues for the season highlight. After missing out on the World Championship last year and the sensational gold medal coup, he is hoping to make it to the team for the Summer Games this time.

Da Silva's younger brother Tristan (23) was recently drafted by the Orlando Magic in the traditional talent selection of the NBA Elite League and can hope for a future with the team of world champion brothers Moritz and Franz Wagner.
