Bundesliga - Bayern before extension with Müller - Hoeneß: Question of time
According to honorary president Uli Hoeneß, FC Bayern Munich is on the verge of extending Thomas Müller's contract. "It's only a matter of days or hours before it's announced," said the long-serving manager of Germany's record soccer champions on ServusTV on Monday evening. In the program "Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar-7", the 71-year-old added: "I think it's in the interests of the whole club that Thomas stays with us." Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund, who was also on the show, said: "He hasn't extended his contract yet, but it could still happen."
Müller's current contract with the Munich club expires at the end of the season. According to media reports, the club and player have already agreed on an extension. This could be officially announced this week - as a kind of Christmas present to the fans.
The international has been at Bayern since he was a child and is one of the club's greatest figures of identification. He has made fewer appearances this season under coach Thomas Tuchel, but was once again in the starting eleven in the 3-0 win over VfB Stuttgart.
