During the German basketball finals, FC Bayern put up an intense fight to secure their very first win. They outmatched Alba Berlin on a Saturday evening with a score of 79:67 (46:43), giving them a leading 1:0 in the five-game series. The team's captain, Vladimir Lucic, was the highest scorer on Bayern's side with 17 points, while world champion Andreas Obst contributed 15 points, including five successful three-pointers.

In a challenging game, the wounded Berliners strived bravely to prevent their defeat. However, they eventually lost steam as just five points were scored by the home team in the final quarter, with Sterling Brown rallying with 15 points.

The second final match between these German basketball powerhouses will play out again in Munich on Monday (8:30 pm/Dyn), followed by a game in Berlin. The first squad to win three games will win the championship.

Despite their dominant semi-final series against Würzburg, Bayern was preferred to win this match, not only because they had three more days rest than Alba but also due to their outstanding performance. However, any signs of fatigue from the Bayern team were hardly noticeable.

Despite the apparent difficulties, the Berliners didn't let Bayern have a field day. They showcased remarkable shots from both inside and outside the 3-point line while displaying excellent defensive play. At halftime, Berlin's co-trainer, Thomas Päch, was quite confident with their performance, stating, "The game is going exactly as we like it."

Meanwhile, Carsen Edwards from Munich sports team had a different viewpoint: "We need more stops - it's back and forth. We won't win this way." Unfortunately, this strategy didn't work at first, and Alba actually took the lead in the third quarter. But Obst stepped up with two three-pointers, leading Bayern to regain the upper hand. The crowd cheered him on with even more enthusiasm as he clenched his fists and flexed his muscles.

As they were running on fumes in the final quarter, the exhausted Berliners scored very few points and sometimes even none at all. Taking full advantage of this state, Bayern secured the victory.
