Final match of BBL - Bayern basketball players cautioned on Alba: "Unexpected occurrences possible"

FC Bayern's basketball players are the favorites in the playoff final, with Alba Berlin having to start the championship series with just one day of regeneration and injury concerns. However, Bayern's world champion Andreas Obst is cautious. "Berlin will be written off again and again, but it's a team that functions well and hurts us," he said before the first duel of the best-of-five series on Saturday (8:30 pm/Dyn). "But we have to be ready as a team."

Berlin won in five games against Chemnitz in the Bundesliga semi-finals, with less than 48 hours between game five on Thursday evening and the first final game in Munich. Despite the short time, Obst believes this could create a lot of euphoria and team spirit. Munich's seasoned coach, Pablo Laso, said on Friday: "A team that's in the flow is faster in rhythm and plays better." Bayern had previously forced a 3:0 in the semi-final series against Würzburg, giving them five days of preparation.

Linguistic mistake from Ibaka

During the season, Bayern had won three out of four matches against Alba in the championship and the Euroleague, sometimes quite convincingly - except in the last meaningless Bundesliga regular season game in Berlin, where Munich players gave away the victory.

Bayern's NBA veteran, Serge Ibaka, said that the previous season games no longer mattered and were not a sign for the final. "Anything can happen," he cautioned. "Alba is now a completely different team with a different mindset." But he made a small mistake when he said, "This is the NBA final..." His teammate, Andreas Obst, corrected Ibaka with a smile: "It's the BBL final."

The playoff final in the Bundesliga is between ALBA Berlin and FC Bayern Munich, with the latter being the favorites. Berlin faced a challenging situation in the semi-finals, needing to regenerate and deal with injuries before the final games. Despite this, Bayern's world champion Andreas Obst is cautious, acknowledging that Berlin is a formidable team.

OBST mentioned that Berlin is often underestimated, but they play well against Bayern and can cause trouble. Despite the short time between matches, Obst believes that Berlin's euphoria and team spirit could be a game-changer. Pablo Laso, Munich's seasoned coach, agreed, stating that a team in flow is faster and plays better.

Bayern had a more convenient preparation schedule, having already secured a 3-0 victory in the semi-finals against Würzburg, which gave them five days to prepare. Despite Bayern's previous dominance against Alba in the championship and Euroleague, Serge Ibaka, Bayern's NBA veteran, warned that this streak does not guarantee victory in the final. He admitted that Alba is a different team with a different mindset this season. However, Ibaka mistakenly referred to the match as the NBA final, prompting Andreas Obst to correct him, reminding everyone that it's the BBL final.
