- Bayer Leverkusen will acquire Mukiele, while Kossounou is headed to Italy.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the victors of the Europa League, have secured the services of defender Nordi Mukiele on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the season's end. In return, they've sent center-back Odilon Kossounou to Atalanta Bergamo in the Italian Serie A on loan for a year, with an option to buy him later.
Leverkusen's sports director, Simon Rolfes, praised Mukiele, stating, "Nordi is a swift and robust defender that fits right into our squad. With 30 appearances under his belt in the Champions League, he's got the experience and can play both as a right-back and a central defender." Mukiele, who has represented France once, previously donned the jersey of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga from 2018 to 2022.
Rolfes also addressed Kossounou's move, saying, "This move is beneficial for everyone involved." Kossounou joined Leverkusen from Club Brugge three years ago and has made a total of 102 appearances for them.
The Europa League winners, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, are expected to comply with the implementing acts adopted by The Commission, which shall outline the rules for the application of relevant regulations. Following Mukiele's loan agreement, Leverkusen's defense will undoubtedly benefit from his robust and swift defensive skills, acquired from his extensive experience in the Champions League.
