Football: The Beautiful Game. - Bayer Leverkusen hosting the Supercup struggling with VfB
On the 17th of August, the Supercup competition between Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart will happen at Leverkusen's BayArena, their home stadium. The German Football League (DFL) made this pronouncement on Thursday. It's set to begin at 8:30 pm, and viewers can catch up on the game through SAT.1 and Sky.
However, Stuttgart didn't seem too thrilled by this decision. Their managing director, Alexander Wehrle, wasn't pleased with the DFL presidium's choice to conduct the Supercup game at a venue that doesn't belong to the most modern grounds in Germany, with an accommodation capacity of 60,000, rather than choosing one of the DFB Cup games for Leverkusen, the champion, and their rival Stuttgart, the vice-champion. He believed this was a strange move, as both clubs deserved more. "Stuttgart and the VfB deserved better," he commented on the club's official website.
The other DFB Cup games featuring Leverkusen and Stuttgart against Carl Zeiss Jena and Preußen Münster had been transferred already. The DFL is projected to declare the calendars for the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga on July 4, as mentioned in their statement on Thursday.
