Abitur 2024 - Bavaria's Abitur average is 2.25
With a nationwide average score of 2.25, Bayern's Abitur students performed worse this year compared to the past years. Last year, the average was at 2.24, while it was even better in the Corona years with 2.15 (2022) and 2.14 (2021). The score was also 2.25 in 2020.
Bavarian Minister of Culture Anna Stolz (Free Voters) was "impressed by the convincing performances" of the Bayern Abitur students: "Congratulations to all graduates on this fantastic result. With the General Certificate of Education, you are well-equipped – you can confidently and resolutely continue your way, be it in studies or in a vocational training. The best for your future!"
Approximately 34,000 Abitur students participated in the exams in Bayern this year. It was the last year group to complete the G8 Abitur. The first G8 graduates existed in the Abitur year 2011 – since then, there were around 500,000 female and male students in Bayern. If someone did not pass the Abitur this year, they can repeat it next year under G8 conditions.
Despite the challenges posed by the Coronavirus, the School students in Munich, the capital of Bavaria, managed to maintain their A-levels performances. The Minister of Culture for Bavaria, Anna Stolz, praised the resilience of the graduating class, emphasizing that they are well-prepared for their future, whether it be in higher education or vocational training. Unfortunately, some students may have fallen short and will have the opportunity to retake their A-levels, now under the G8 structure, the last of which was introduced in 2011.
