- Bavarian trio back in training
After returning from South Korea and a day and a half of rest, Bayern Munich has resumed training. Among those present on Tuesday, in sweltering temperatures, were Euro 2020 participants Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman, and Matthijs de Ligt. The two French national players and the Dutch international, who has been linked with Manchester United, had been on vacation after the tournament and did not travel to Seoul. The trio began their preparations with performance tests last Friday.
Striker Harry Kane was also absent during the South Korea tour. The goal scorer is expected to return to Munich mid-week after an extended vacation following England's Euro 2020 final loss to Spain. The 31-year-old had been playing through back issues and other ailments during the latter stages of the season in Munich and for England at the Euros.
The reigning German champions will face a tough test on Saturday (6:30 PM) in London against Tottenham Hotspur. The team coached by Vincent Kompany will then kick off their competitive season on August 16 in the DFB-Pokal against newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side SSV Ulm.
During their post-tournament break, Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman, and Matthijs de Ligt enjoyed some time in their respective homelands. Regardless, they all look forward to joining Bayern Munich's training sessions in Bavaria upon their returns.
