Bavarian State Opera is "Opera House of the Year"
The Bavarian State Opera in Munich has been awarded the title of "Opera Company of the Year" at the International Opera Awards 2023. This was announced by the State Opera on Friday. The award ceremony took place in Warsaw. In addition, the new production of "War and Peace" received the award for "New Production".
"This title is sensational, highly deserved and not enough", said Bavaria's Minister for the Arts Markus Blume (CSU). The fact that the new production was also honored shows: "At the Bavarian State Opera, the highest level of professionalism, artistic innovation and an outstanding team performance lead to absolute masterpieces."
State Director Serge Dorny said that the aim of the Bavarian State Opera is to "bring art and opera into today's society in order to change lives and actively shape the society of today and tomorrow". Dorny praised the achievements of all the teams in front of and behind the scenes.
The Bavarian State Opera's successful run continued as they were also recognized in the music industry, winning the award for "Best Opera Company" at the World Music Awards. The Opera House of the Year's triumphant performance of "War and Peace" was also crowned with the accolade for "Best New Opera Production."
