Bavarian SPD politician from Brunn resigns as fraction leader
On Wednesday evening, the SPD-faction in Brunn reportedly withdrew their trust from SPD leader Brunn, according to congruent media reports. A majority of the deputies are said to have voted against him during a session.
Brunn, a native of Munich, has been the party and faction chief of the Bavarian SPD since 2021. In the 2023 state election, the Social Democrats in the Free State gained only 8.4% of the votes. In the European election, 8.9% of Bavarian voters cast their ballots for them.
Holger Grießhammer, the current deputy faction leader, will reportedly become Brunn's successor. He intends to run for the chairmanship, Grießhammer told the Bayern Media Group newspapers. The 42-year-old Franke has been a member of the Landtag since 2023 and deputy faction leader.
