More money and more staff - Bavaria urges rapid care reform

In the face of growing deficits in long-term care insurance, Bavaria is pressing for long-term care reform. The states are ready to constructively contribute, said Bavarian Health Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU) to the "Augsburger Allgemeine" (Friday). Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) should seize the opportunity. Since the Federal Government has presented an expert report on models for the long-term financing of long-term care insurance, the reform should not be postponed until after the Federal Elections 2025.

Bavaria, being one of the federal states in Germany, strongly advocates for long-term care reform due to mounting deficits in its long-term care insurance. The Federal Government, led by Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach, has recently presented an expert report on financing models for long-term care insurance, suggesting an urgent need for reform.
