Bavaria: Firefighter perishes during water rescue mission
The boat, used in the rescue mission with four firefighters, turned over while trying to reach the stranded house. Luckily, three people managed to escape the flooding. Unfortunately, the fourth was missing at first and ultimately discovered dead in the water by other rescue teams around 2:20 am.
As Saturday turned into Sunday night, the flooding became even more severe in areas like Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Multiple streams and rivers spilled their banks. In certain regions of Bavaria, the disaster status was announced, forcing people to be airlifted from their houses and apartments by helicopters. The firefighters have been hard at work.
