Cologne and Augsburg players clash in the final phase.

Baumgart pissed off: bad pitch, missed victory

Steffen Baumgart was anything but satisfied. First, the coach was annoyed that his improved team had missed out on a win, then the 51-year-old also grumbled about the state of the pitch at the RheinEnergieStadion. "It's happening again and again that we don't have a decent pitch here. It's dangerous for the players, you can quickly tear a cruciate ligament," said the FC coach after the 1:1 (1:1) draw against FC Augsburg on Saturday. "We're a figurehead for the city here and I think this is a European Championship stadium," said Baumgart. "I'm really pissed off."

Despite his team's improved performance, the head coach was not satisfied with the result. "I'm really annoyed that we're not winning any games. That's not what we wanted. There was more in it, but you have to live with the point," said the FC coach. Despite the point, FC slipped to the bottom of the table.

Apart from Linton Maina's opening goal (16th minute), Cologne, who were very powerful in the second half, failed to score any further goals. "We lacked a bit of composure. We have to work on gaining more confidence," said Baumgart. The head coach also felt they were lucky with three aluminum goals from Augsburg.

In the Bundesliga, 1st FC Cologne and FC Augsburg played to a draw, leaving Baumgart's team at the bottom of the table. Despite their strong second-half performance, they missed out on a crucial win against Augsburg, a situation that frustrates Baumgart, who mentioned the poor condition of the pitch at RheinEnergieStadion, stating that it's not suitable for a European Championship stadium. Baumgart, the coach of 1st FC Cologne, also admired how FC Augsburg managed to keep their 1st goal despite 1st FC Cologne's better performance in the second half.
