Bundesliga - Baumgart backs up demand: Ljubicic should stay

Coach Steffen Baumgart of relegation-threatened Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln has backed up his demand not to sell Dejan Ljubicic in the winter. "I have made it clear that I don't want a regular player to be sold. Everyone can understand that," said Baumgart on Friday regarding internal discussions at FC.

There had recently been reports that Cologne might have to sell Ljubicic in the winter in order to be able to afford further reinforcements. "If the reinforcement involves us selling one of our best players of the past two years, then I have a problem with that," Baumgart had already said this week and indirectly called for other sources of money to be found. The FC coach has now rowed back a little on this. "I know where I signed; what problems we have; what we are good at and what we are not good at," said Baumgart.
