Baumgart ahead of Bayern game: "I'm always confident"
Coach Steffen Baumgart of penultimate-placed 1. FC Köln is counting on a courageous performance from his team against record soccer champions Bayern Munich. He himself is "always confident", said Baumgart on Wednesday. "And I will never lose that confidence."
Ahead of the Bundesliga match on Friday (20:30/DAZN), Baumgart tried to maintain a positive attitude despite the "current modest situation". In hindsight, the FC coach does not see his team's recent disappointing performance in the lucky 1-1 draw at direct rivals VfL Bochum as a failure. "We had a partial success in Bochum and picked up a point. That may not be enough for everyone here. For me, it was the right result at the time based on our performance. And that's what we got," said Baumgart, adding: "With this point, we've climbed one place. And I forget that too quickly here."
