The burning battery of an electric scooter sparked a fire department response in the early evening at a multi-family residence in the Stuttgart district of Möhringen. According to the fire department, responding crews found heavy smoke in the stairwell, necessitating the evacuation of one person from the top floor via ladder truck.

While the building was checked for other occupants, the burning battery was extinguished. Subsequently, the smoke-filled stairway was ventilated, the battery was removed to the outdoors, and placed in a water bath for further cooling.

The fire department advises always charging batteries under supervision, on non-flammable surfaces, and at a safe distance from easily ignitable items. Additionally, manufacturer guidelines must be strictly followed.

Firefighting crews successfully extinguished the burning battery, preventing further spread of the firefighting. To ensure safety, it's crucial to practice firefighting techniques when handling such situations.
