The Sport of Basketball - Basketball players from Frankfurt return to the Bundesliga.
Frankfurt's Fraport Skyliners have secured promotion to Germany's top-tier basketball league, the BBL. In an exciting fifth game of their best-of-five series against Römerstrom Gladiators Trier, they won 85:76 for a 3:2 victory. This triumph in the semi-final round of the second-tier Pro A guarantees Head Coach Denis Wucherer's squad a spot in the playoff finals and a spot in the German league.
In the initial stages of the game, Frankfurt led the way, piling up a significant lead over Trier - the best team following the preliminary rounds. However, Trier did not give up and managed to narrow the gap. The Skyliners, however, never backed down and snatched a hard-fought win.
PS Karlsruhe Lions currently hold the second playoff semi-final series, winning it against Phoenix Hagen 3:1. In terms of sporting prowess, the Karlsruhe team would have been promoted, but they did not receive a license for the BBL. Presently, only 17 teams are expected to feature in the upcoming Bundesliga season. In recent years, the league has given out a wild card slot to an 18th team.
