German Basketball League - Basketball coach Wucherer continues to lead promoted team Frankfurt.
Basketball coach Denis Wucherer and Bundesliga debutants Fraport Skyliners will carry on their partnership in the upcoming season, according to an announcement from the team on Thursday. "Following in-depth and fruitful discussions, Denis Wucherer relinquishes his current exit clause and will also direct Frankfurt during the 2024/2025 season," it was declared.
Under Wucherer's leadership, the Frankfurt team succeeded in gaining promotion from the Pro A, the second-tier league, to the Bundesliga this season. "Our objectives are to secure the future of this exceptional club that's been around for over 25 years and build a powerful presence in basketball, both domestically and worldwide," Wucherer said. "My gut tells me that there is still much untapped potential for growth here."
Arriving as a coach in Frankfurt the previous year, Wucherer guided the Skyliners to a playoff semifinal match against the Römerstrom Gladiators Trier (3:2) and, in doing so, won them a spot in the Bundesliga. The team will face off against PS Karlsruhe Lions for the championship in the Pro A on Friday and Sunday.
