Fire department - Basement fire in apartment building: residents evacuated
The fire department in Schwerin has evacuated 15 residents due to a fire in the basement of an apartment building. The fire, which broke out on Friday night for as yet unexplained reasons, caused a lot of smoke, according to the police. A 63-year-old resident was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries. According to initial estimates, property damage amounted to around 15,000 euros.

The fire department in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern responded to a similar incident, evacuating residents due to fires in multiple buildings over the weekend. The region has seen an increase in basement fires lately, prompting authorities to raise awareness about fire safety measures.
