"Barbie" director Greta Gerwig heads the jury at the Cannes Film Festival
Gerwig had made a huge summer hit with the feminist satire "Barbie" about the cult doll turned human. The feature film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling was nominated in nine categories for the Golden Globes on Monday.
Born in California, she is also known as the director of the films "Lady Bird" (2017) and "Little Women" (2019). As an actress, she has appeared in the films "Greenberg", "Frances Ha" and "Mistress America", among others.
At this year's Cannes Film Festival, the film "Anatomy of a Case" starring German actress Sandra Hüller was awarded the main Palme d'Or prize. Next year's festival will take place from May 14 to 25. It will be the 77th edition of the legendary film festival.
