Crime - Bank branch badly damaged in ATM blast
Unknown persons have blown up an ATM in Erkrath near Düsseldorf and caused serious damage to the bank branch. The vestibule was completely destroyed by the detonation early on Thursday morning, the fire department explained. Parts of the building façade also fell down.
According to the police, residents were woken up in the morning by a loud bang. They had observed at least two men fleeing from the bank and driving away in a car. The alerted police took up the chase but were unable to catch the perpetrators, who fled at high speed along the Autobahn 3 towards the Netherlands.
According to the police, the perpetrators stole cash. The amount was initially unclear. Investigators also did not provide any information on the amount of damage. The police are looking for witnesses.
