The Minister of Foreign Affairs - Baerbock outlines her diplomatic typing skills.

The German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has explained her unconventional approach towards engaging with high-profile foreign leaders. She described this as a modern form of diplomacy where you can often switch between soft and loud tones. At an event in Düsseldorf on Monday, she said, "I don't believe that turning away is a sign of strength." She further added that some leaders footstep the way a country responds to their actions.

In this regard, she shared her past experiences with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese State and Party leader Xi Jinping. During the discussion about the Ukraine war, she claimed that Lavrov had lied to her face. She later expressed strong words against Xi Jinping, calling him a dictator during an interview with the American broadcaster Fox News, which gained considerable attention.

The Foreign Minister underlined the significance of maintaining the credibility of Germany on a global platform. She asserted, "The greatest asset of our country is that we enjoy incredible trust." She believed that by staying quiet about untrue allegations, it would be perceived as her agreement to those and thus she prefers to confront the authorities directly. "However, I have other tactics as well. I can also play poker face and be silent for a long time if needed,” concluded Baerbock.
