Baerbock condemns deadly rocket attack from Lebanon on Israel
For months, Israeli civilians have been "under fire from Hezbollah and other extremists," wrote Baerbock further. "These malicious attacks must cease immediately," demanded the Minister. Looking at the anticipated expansion of the conflict in the region, she declared, "we must now act with cool-headedness." "There have already been far too many people killed in this conflict."
On Saturday afternoon, a projectile fired from Lebanon hit the soccer field of the Druze village of Majdal Shams. According to Israeli reports, at least twelve children and teenagers between the ages of ten and twenty were killed.
Israel's army spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated in the night of Sunday, this was the attack against Israeli civilians with the most fatalities since the 7th of October. According to the Israeli Red Magen David Adom, 20 more teenagers were injured in the attack, some of them severely.
According to Hagari's statements, a Falak-1 rocket of Iranian origin with a 50 kg explosive charge was used in the attack. This model is "exclusively in the possession of Hezbollah."
The militia affiliated with Iran took responsibility for the attack immediately afterwards. While the Israeli government announced a hard military response, Iran warned Israel of the consequences of a new military "adventure" in Lebanon.
