In the drinking water network of the Steinheim district in the town of Hungen, coliform bacteria have been detected. Consequently, the public health department of the Gießen district ordered a chlorine disinfection of the water, as announced by the district. For healthy individuals, these bacteria pose no threat, the authority explained. The health department advised immunocompromised persons to avoid contact of open wounds with the drinking water.
